One Month Late, But Nice Anyway

Though it was over a month ago, I can't help thinking about the array of season finales that I saw this year. Nearly all of them ended cheerfully.

One Tree Hill's season was rumored to end with Peyton pulling a Padme and dying during childbirth. OTH surprised viewers with not only Peyton living, but the baby living, and Peyton, Lucas and baby girl, Sawyer Brooke, driving away into the distance in their newly fixed up Comet. Now I, for one, am overjoyed that the new bride will live to see another day. Also, that Brooke finally opened up her heart and let Julian in by showing up on the set of his movie and proclaiming her love. Chase told Mia he would wait for her and Nathan made the NBA and Haley really didn't have much of a story line to resolve at that point in time. So, all's good!

The main delirious thing about Gossip Girl's finale that had me squealing with delight was Chuck and Blair getting together, FINALLY! It was an epic afternoon that Blair was walking home to find chuck leaning against his limo, outside her apartment. With him he had many gifts including chocolate truffles and foreign pantyhose. After an entire season of waiting, Chuck told Blair "I love you."
The two kissed and Blair said, "Say it two times," Chuck kissed her again. "Seriously."
Chuck said, "I love you."
He kissed her again.
"I love you."
Kiss.
"I love you."
Kiss .
"I love you."
Kiss. And so on.

The fifth season of The Office ended with a volleyball game in which Pam was a star. Unfortunatley, Pam sprains her ankle and Corporate demands Jim take her to the hospitol. At the hospitol, the doctor tell Pam she's pregnant. There is a heartfelt embrace shared between Jim and Pam, that brought the biggest smile to my face, you couldn't imagine. Then I thought, Oh, wait a minute, they're not married yet....WHATEVER! YAY!

Unfortunatley, Grey's Anatomy was not all that cheerful. The possibility that either George or Izzie dies is depressing to say the least. Clearly though, if you live in the real world, you know that T.R. Knight will be leaving the show (for reasons unclear to anyone) and Kathrine Heigl will not. But in all honesty, being run over by a bus and turned into a blob is really not something you can come back from. Bummer.
